SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 has continued its stranglehold on Chennai box office for the third consecutive weekend. The mega-budget movie performed better than the new releases that include Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen and Sarkar 3.
In its third weekend, Baahubali 2 has minted Rs 1.82 crore 501 shows, as per Behindwoods. The movie had raked in Rs 3.24 crore and 2.73 crore, respectively in its first and second weekend, respectively. The total gross collection of the movie now stands at Rs 13.02 crore.
Udhayanidhi Stalin's Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen collected Rs 38.87 lakh from 177 shows in its first weekend. The industry insiders had expected the movie to do a lot better and the mixed reviews seem to have impacted the business of the comedy entertainer.
Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar 3 has earned Rs 11.84 lakh from 54 shows. This is considered to be a below-average opening. Hollywood film Alien: Covenant has registered a decent start in Chennai by earning Rs 9.87 lakh from 54 shows.
Another new Tamil release Yeidhavan has opened to below-average opening. It collected just Rs 7.09 lakh from 60 shows.
Bollywood film Meri Pyaari Bindu had limited shows in Chennai, and raked in Rs 6.89 lakh from 33 shows.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 entered its second weekend by earning Rs 6.15 lakh from 36 shows to take its total tally to Rs 30.44 lakh.
However, Tamil movie Lens has opened to highly positive reviews, but the good word-of-mouth has failed to translate into revenue. In its first weekend, the flick has raked in Rs 2.58 lakh from 18 shows. Telugu film Radha collected Rs 1.93 lakh from 12 shows at the Chennai box office.
