SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (Bahubali 2) is achieving a big feat at Tamil Nadu box office on Saturday, May 13. The mega-budget movie, which was released on April 28, has reached the Rs 100 crore mark.
Baahubali 2 has been overwhelmingly received by Tamil audience. Not only urban centres, rural centres too have witnessed good occupancy rates in theatres. The holiday season has also helped the movie to have a dream run in theatres. Also, no big movies were released in the last couple of weeks, giving a boost to the business of the Prabhas-starrer.
The movie had shown signs of doing a great business when it made Rs 10.25 crore on the opening day. Following the strong word-of-mouth, the Rana Daggubati film minted Rs 31.25 crore in the three-day first weekend. International Workers' Day holiday on May 1 ensured that the movie retained good viewership and the flick ended its first week collection at Rs 62 crore with a net income of Rs 51.2 crore.
The second weekend too witnessed massive footfalls and Baahubali 2 added above Rs 20 crore to take its 10-day collection to Rs 82.5 crore. The business slowed down in the next few days -- quite normal on weekdays, say trade experts.
The movie, which also has Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the female leads, is heading towards the Rs 1,300 crore mark at the global box office. The movie was released in four languages and has turned out to be a blockbuster in all the versions.
