The premiere shows of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (Bahubali 2) have opened to a huge response in India, US, UAE and other parts of the world and minted more than Rs 50 crore gross.
Baahubali 2 was premiered in a large number of cinema halls in Hyderabad, Vizag and other Telugu speaking states, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and a few other cities in North India on Thursday night. The movie, which had brilliant advance booking, ran to packed houses almost everywhere.
The epic historical film did record breaking business across the board. Baahubali 2 is estimated to have collected Rs 21 crore gross from Indian premieres- the highest for any Indian language film. The Telugu, Tamil and Hindi premieres have also set a new record.
The Prabhas and Rana Daggubati starrer has got good response for advance booking of its preview shows in the North America, where the film opened in over 1,000 screens. The makers are yet to reveal the collection, but if we are to go by the early estimates, Baahubali 2 has collected over $3.50 million (Rs 22.40 crore) at the US box becoming the first Indian film to achieve the feat.
The second installment of the Baahubali franchise was premiered in over 500 screens in UAE, UK, Australia and other international markets and recorded a decent response. Baahubali 2 is estimated to have collected over Rs 7.50 crore at the overseas box office in the paid previews.
As per early estimates, Baahubali 2 has collected Rs 50.90 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the premiere shows and the final official number is expected to be bigger than the estimated figures. It is the first Indian movie to surpass the mark of Rs 50 crore gross in global premiere shows.
