SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 has emerged victorious at the Tamil Nadu box office. In its first weekend, the multilingual movie has made a fantastic collection in the state.
The movie was released in over 400 screens in Tamil Nadu on Friday, April 28. The good promotions and positive vibes around Baahubali 2 helped the movie to get a fantastic opening. The movie raked in over Rs 10.25 crore on its first day which was below expectations. It was because the morning and special shows on Friday were cancelled over financial issues between the distributor and the producer.
The trade experts believe that Baahubali 2 could have easily added another Rs 2-3 crore if released without any issues. Nontheless, the movie recovered from the losses in the next two days as the Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer registered good occupancy rates on Saturday and Sunday.
The collection of Baahubali 2 witnessed minor growth on Saturday as the film raked in Rs 10.45 crore and it came out with its best performance on Sunday by collecting Rs 10.85 crore to take its three-day total tally to Rs 31.55 crore.
The movie has attracted all section of audience to theatres. From masses to family audience, the multilingual film has won the audience of different age and classes. The dream run of the flick is expected to continue with Monday, May 1 being a holiday on the occasion of International Workers' Day.
Baahubali 2 was acquired for Rs 47 crore by Sri Green Productions. They are confident of recovering their investment in the first week itself. The week-day collection holds the key for its success.
The trade experts feel that the good word-of-mouth will ensure to make it a successful venture for the producer and distributors.
Baahubali 2, which has Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the female leads, has bankrolled by Shobu Yarlagada. The first instalment had grossed over Rs 600 crore at the worldwide box office.
