The wide release of Baahubali: The Conclusion aka Bahubali 2 that has been earning tremendous collection across the globe has affected the release of many regional movies. Due to the unavailability of enough number of screens, the makers of Malayalam movie Godha have been forced to postpone the release date of the sports movie by a week.

Tovino Thomas' most anticipated Godha, which was earlier slated to hit the screens on May 12, has been postponed to May 18 for a wider release across Kerala. The movie's director Basil Joseph announced the news via his Facebook post and said: "We are also so excited to share our little baby with you all. Unfortunately on May 12th, we didn't get good theatres both in quality and numbers, especially screens with Dolby Atmos,due to the epic Bahubali [sic]."

"We are not embarrassed of it and no complaints ,as we understand the effort of so many people and cost of such a movie and it should get the reach it deserves and everyone should watch it too. So we are pushing the release date of Godha to May 19th , for a better and wider release with more than 100 screens in Kerala. We once again thank you all for your patience and support and so sorry for making you all wait for another week. Hope you all understand and stand by us for the best. :) :) [sic]," the Kunjiramayanam directed added.
Basil has also revealed that the film, based on wrestling, will have its world premiere in Dubai on May 18, a day before its release in Kerala. Recently, Sunny Wayne's family entertainer Alamara also had its premiere in the Middle East.
Godha stars Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi as Aditi in lead role, as a wrestler who joins the team of Captain (Renji Panicker) from Punjabi. The movie also has an ensemble cast including, Aju Varghese, Parvathy T, Bijukuttan, Kottayam Pradeep, Hareesh Perumanna and Dharmajan Bolgatty in significant roles. Meanwhile, the teaser, trailer and songs of the sports comedy entertainer have already impressed audience for its fresh content and remarkable performances of the actors.
