The makers of Emraan Hashmi-starrer "Azhar" have released the trailer April 1 and it looks quite promising. Apart from Emraan, the film also features Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhri, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta and former "Bigg Boss" contestant Gautam Gulati in the lead roles.
After Sushant Singh Rajput's "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story," Bollywood is coming up with another biopic on a former Indian cricket skipper's life journey. Directed by Tony D'Souza, "Azhar" is based on the life of former Indian cricket skipper Mohammad Azharuddin and highlights his achievements, the match-fixing controversy and his much-publicised affair and marriage with Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani.
Prachi will be seen as Emraan's first wife Naureen in the upcoming sports biopic, while Nargis will play his second wife Sangeeta's character. Prachi and Emraan have earlier worked together in "Once upon a Time in Mumbaai" (2010). Gautam plays Ravi Shastri's character in the movie, which is slated to be released May 13.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms, "Azhar" seems to be a roller-coaster ride and Emraan looks perfect in the shoes of Azharuddin in the trailer. Earlier, the "Murder" actor revealed that the ex-skipper was by his side and helped him prepare for the role.
"He was there throughout to help me learn the finer nuances of the game. And now that it's completed, it is for Azhar to gauge how well I have played him on screen. It is a huge responsibility to play Azhar, especially since he is going to be watching the film," the Hindustan Times quoted Emraan as saying.
