"Guardians of the Galaxy" protagonist, Star-Lord a.k.a. Peter Quill (portrayed by Chris Pratt), has been confirmed to join the other Avengers along with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) instalment, "Avengers: Infinity War."
In an interview with Comic Book, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, who will be directing the planned two-part movie, confirmed the news.
Talking about Star-Lord's presence in the movie, Anthony said: "The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU so you don't want to get into spoilers but I'm a big fan of what James Gunn has done."
"Joe Russo and I are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you'd be very excited."
Joe revealed that the Norse God, Thor, will also have an interesting role in "Infinity War."
"I'm excited to work with Thor. They're doing some really interesting stuff with'Ragnarok' and where he's gonna be at the beginning of 'Infinity War'is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."
The Russo brothers didn't reveal whether any other Guardian will be in the movie or not apart from Star-Lord. However, since Star-Lord usually prefers to work with his team, there is a significant chance of it.
According to Cosmic Book News, fans have been speculating whether Thor will survive the events of upcoming movie "Thor: Ragnarok" or not. With Russo Brothers confirming his presence in "Infinity Wars," it is now for sure that Thor won't die in "Ragnarok."
"Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" is scheduled to release May 4, 2018, followed by "Part II" on May 3, 2019. The two-part movie will serve as the sequel of "The Avengers" (2012) and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).
