Avengers: Infinity War is one of the most talked about films of 2017. After its release and that terrific ending, the entire fandom of Marvel Cinematic Universe is now talking about Avengers 4. With Ant-Man and the Wasp successfully running in theaters all around the world, there are many who are speculating about the connection between Avengers and Ant-Man. Director Peyton Reed recently talked about the future of MCU movies and how he wishes to see an all-female Avengers movie.
Even before Ant-Man and the Wasp was released, fans of Avengers were speculating why Paul Rudd's superhero was not present during the epic war against Thanos. Although Ant-Man 2's ending revealed the truth, it gave birth to several other theories. There were many who talked about the possibility of time travel. Even Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed Infinity War, hinted at the occurrence of time travel.
At the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) warns Paul Rudd's Scott Lang to look out for time vortexes when he will be in the Quantum Realm. During a recent interview with The Huffington Post, director Peyton Reed was asked about the possibility of Scott Lang appearing in the Avengers 4 as a result of time travel.
Peyton did not dismiss the possibility of that and stated, "Based on the science that we've set up in the first movie and this one, I won't rule out the possibility, because, again, we are dealing with a time vortex."
The 54-year-old Reed also teased that the Quantum Realm shown in the Ant-Man and the Wasp will play a crucial part in the upcoming superhero movies. Now, if time travel happens in Avengers 4, then there are chances that Janet van Dyne will never make it out of the Quantum Realm.
Furthermore, the director also talked about the possibility of the all-female Avengers movie. According to him, Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne can lead her own all-female Avengers team.
"I think Hope van Dyne is a very decisive leader and a tactician, in addition to being a brilliant scientist. So she checks a lot of boxes in terms of who's going to be running the Avengers, theoretically," he added.
Avengers 4 is slated to release on May 3, 2019.
