Naga Chaitanya-Samantha's much-delayed "Autonagar Surya" is likely to hit the screens on Friday, 27 June.
The political action drama, directed by Deva Katta, was apparently delayed due to some financial issues. The film has been delayed for more than two years and is finally gearing up for release on 27 May. The film has received an "A" certificate from the censor board. Its trailers have already generated good responses from fans and the film is carrying a positive buzz among industry circles.
Producer Dil Raju, who has bought the distribution rights for one of the areas, has said that Naga Chaitanya's performance and the last 25 minutes of the film are the major highlights, reported 123telugu.
The film has Samantha, Rakul Preet Singh, Ajay, Sai Kumar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Brahmanandam, M. S. Narayana, Jaya Prakash Reddy and Brahmaji among others. The Chaitanya starrer contains cinematography by Srikanth Naroj, editing by Gautham Raju and music by Anoop Rubens.
"Autonagar Surya" will be Chaitanya's second release of the year post "Manam," which hit the screens in May. The actor is on a roll following the success of "Manam", which also stars Akkineni Nageswarao Rao and Nagarjuna in pivotal roles.
The family drama received fantastic reviews from critics as well as from the audience. The film minted around ₹2.32 crore on its opening day at the AP/Nizam box office, according to the Andhraboxoffice website. It went on to perform well and crossed the ₹30 crore mark worldwide. The film has turned out to be a blockbuster and is still doing decent business in several areas. "Manam" is the highest grossing film for both Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya.
It will be interesting to see if "Autonagar Surya" will be able to perform better business than the multi starrer. The film is expected to have a good opening considering that "Manam", which had Naga Chaitanya in one of the lead roles, set the cash registers ringing.
The political action drama will be have a solo release with no other biggies competing with it. However, it will be facing some competition from the recently-released films like Vishal's "Indrudu" and "Oohalu Gusagusalade." Moreover, "Manam" might also be posing some threat to "Autonagar Surya" at the box office. If the film manages to garner positive reviews, it will help bring in more crowds to theatres and rake in good collections.
Besides releasing in India, the Naga Chaitanya starrer will be hitting screens in overseas markets like the United States, UK and Kuwait among others. To check the latest trailer of the film, click HERE.
