The 13th edition of the Auto Expo scheduled from 5 to 9 February at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, is expected to witness massive participation of manufacturers and visitors. For 2016, close to 80 new vehicles will be unveiled and the organisers are calculating a footfall of around 7 lakh people during the 5-day event.
The Auto Expo 2016 is organised by a consortium of Industry chamber Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
Along with the motor show, a component show will be held from 4 to 7 February at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. Apart from the 65 vehicle makers participating in the motor show, the component show will see participation from 1,500 companies in which 900 companies will be from India and 600 international exhibitors. The motor show will occupy 73,000 square meters gross indoor exhibition space from the previous 69,000 square meters, while the components show is spread over 80,000 square metres.
"Auto Expo has seen a tenfold growth from 152 exhibitors to 1,580 exhibitors in 2016, which is phenomenal over a period of 30 years. The show has been growing from strength to strength," said CII director general Chandrajit Banerjee in a statement.
With a view to encourage an innovation driven mind-set amongst the youth, 'Passion for innovation', a contest for engineering students, is also being organised on the sidelines of the event, the statement said.
The 13th edition of Auto Expo will see the arrival of new exhibitors like Revolta Motors, Force Motors, Jeep, Abarth and Dhasan Moto, BMW Motorrad, DSK Benelli and Polaris from Indian Motorcycles. However, companies like Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson will not be part of the latest edition of the event.
