Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza is on the form of her life. After making her way into the final of the Women's Doubles in Australian Open 2016, Sania entered the Semi Finals of the Mixed Doubles on Thursday.
The 29-year-old, who won the Padma Bhushan on India's Republic Day this year, paired alongside Croat Ivan Dodig to defeat the Indo-Swiss pair of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis 7-6(1) 6-3 in the Quarter Final of the competition at the Show Court 3.
Sania partnered alongside Hingis to enter the Women's Doubles Final only on Wednesday.
Both Indians, Sania and Leander, gave a great fight in their match today to notch up a closely-contested encounter in the first set. Both Sania-Dodig and defending champions Hingis-Leander fought tooth and nail in every game to bring the set to 6-love at one point.
Then on, the Indo-Croat duo displayed more steel to win the next two games and register a 7-6 advantage. The match went on to tie-break and the duo of Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig bossed the set with perfection.
The Indo-Swiss pair couldn't match up with the chemistry of Sania-Dodig, and it was a relatively easier second set for the Indo-Croat duo. The match lasted for just below 45 minutes.
