Sydneys famous Bondi Beach was a sea of red and white on 15 December, as 320 surfers dressed up in Santa costumes rode the waves. Local media reported the Guinness World Record company as saying that the event had set a new record for the largest surf lesson.
Some of the Santas found it tricky to stay upright, but everyone seemed to have fun. Organisers of the event said they needed to beat a target of 250 surfers to achieve the world record. The event was organised by RedBalloon to raise awareness for mental health issues and a local surf school, Australian media reported.
