Vismayam
With the Telugu movie "Manamantha" ("Vismayam" in Malayalam and "Namadhu" in Tamil), superstar Mohanlal is set to make a mark in Tollywood. The family entertainer, helmed by Chandra Shekhar Yeleti, also stars Gauthami, Viswant, Raina Rao, Anisha Ambrose, Urvashi, Nassar, Vennela Kishore, Dhanraj, Parachuri Venkateswara Rao, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Praveen, Naveen Neni, Ayyapa, Harshavardhan and P Sharma in pivotal roles. The movie is set to hit the screens on Aug. 5.
Guppy
Director Johnpaul George's "Guppy," starring master Chethan Jayalal and Tovino Thomas, will lock horns with Mohanlal's "Vismayam" at the Kerala box office upon its release on Aug. 5. Despite being made with a small budget, the trailer of the film has already impressed the audience for the notable performances of its ensemble cast, including Rohini, Sreenivasan, Dileesh Pothan, Alancier Ley and Noby.
The family entertainer "Ann Maria Kalippilaanu" is the second directorial venture of "Aadu Oru Bheekarajeeviyanu"-fame director Midhun Manuel Thomas. The movie, which marks the Mollywood debut of "Deiva Thirumagal" actress Sarah Arjun, also stars Sunny Wayn, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan Bolgatty and Siddique in significant roles. It is scheduled to release in Kerala on Aug. 5.
Inspector Dawood Ibrahim (IDI)
Jayasurya's action thriller "Inspector Dawood Ibrahim" has been hitting the headlines ever since it went on the floors. In the Sajid Yahiya-directed film, Jayasurya will be seen as sub-inspector Dawood Ibrahim who worked hard to become a cop. How his character faces the pressures and struggles of the duties assigned to him is narrated in the thriller, which will be released worldwide on Aug. 12.
Jayasurya has been tagged as one of the versatile actors in Malayalam with his dedication in each of his project. The actor's tonsured look in Ranjith Sankar's horror comedy entertainer "Pretham" had become the talk of the town after he shared its video on his Facebook page. Jayasurya plays the role of a mentalist John Don Bosco in the movie, which also stars Aju Varghese, Govind Padmasoorya and Sharafudheen in key roles. Interestingly, the film is set to lock horns with Jayasurya's cop thriller "IDI" on Aug. 12 all over India.
Marubhoomiyile Aana
With back-to-back comedy entertainers, Biju Menon has become a bankable actor in Malayalam films. The trailer and songs of his upcoming comedy entertainer "Marubhoomiyile Aana," directed by VK Prakash, have been garnering positive responses from movie-goers. The film is also scheduled to hit the screens on Aug. 12 and has Samskruthy Shenoy, Krishna Sankar, Balu Varghese, Sanoosha and Saju Navodaya in significant roles.
Perariyathavar
Dr. Biju's critically acclaimed movie will be released in Kerala on Aug. 12. Actor Suraj Venjarumoodu bagged the first National Best Actor Award in 2013 for his performance in the film, which narrated the story of two sweepers. The movie had also won the prestigious award for the Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation.
Pinneyum
Veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan's family entertainer "Pinneyum" marks the reunion of most celebrated pair Dileep and Kavya Madhavan after five years. The makers of the film have announced that "Pinneyum" will hit the screens on Aug. 18.
