Audi is a premium car maker and has a respectable brand name in the Indian luxury car segment. Continuing its dominance in the Indian automobile market, Audi added a new variant to its existing lineup in the country.
The company's most affordable sedan in India, the A3, is now available in a convertible variant for Rs. 44.75 lakh. This should attract the consumers who wish to have a retractable roof in the luxury car.
Audi A3 Cabriolet is a two-door, 4-seater convertible with a soft fabric hood that operates at a speed of up to 50km/h and closes in 18 seconds. The car was first shown at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, where it earned an overwhelming response. Audi India head Joe King launched the car on Thursday.
Under the hood, the A3 Cabriolet is run by a 1.8 TFSI petrol engine with seven-speed transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 242 km/h.
Audi has some useful safety features packed inside the A3 Cabriolet, such as the active rollover protection, ESP, traction control, ABS and airbags, ZigWheels reports. Audi is confident that the new A3 convertible is going to sell in satisfactory numbers and is aiming to push 200-250 units throughout the year.
The launch of A3 Cabriolet is just the beginning of a whole new lineup that is scheduled for next year. The German car maker has revealed that it has 10 new launches including improved versions of Q3 SUV lined up for 2015. One of the most anticipated Indian launches of the Audi cars next year are the R8 LMX and TT sports cars. Additionally, the company plans to fulfill the demand for an affordable car with a new hatchback version.
Audi is the largest luxury car brand in India and is the first luxury maker to have crossed the 10K mark.
