A Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant in a town near Egypt's capital of Cairo came under attack on Thursday, leaving at least one person dead.
The assailants arrived at the KFC restaurant located in Menoufia, a town 80 km north of Cairo, on a motorcycle and threw inflammable objects at the restaurant, which led to a fire, Egypt's state news agency MENA reported, according to Reuters.
The attackers then began opening gunfire.
The attack comes two days after Cairo was on edge following a bomb blast in a busy district and the recovery of two bombs at its airport.
Egypt has witnessed a spate of violence over the last week, with militants launching deadly attacks in the northern Sinai province, killing 30 security officials.
