FC Goa were handed a 4-0 drubbing by the defending champions Atletico de Kolkata, and as a result the latter moved to top spot in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2015 points table.
This was indeed a fantastic victory for Antonio Lopez Habas and his men in red and white stripes.
Prior to this match, no game between FC Goa and Atletico de Kolkata yielded a result in the 90 minutes as all of them ended in a draw.
"I'm very happy because the performance of the team was fantastic. Maybe the first five or 15 minutes, it was tough. After that we played a completely fantastic game," Atletico de Kolkata gaffer Antonio Lopez Habas told the reporters at the post-match press conference on Sunday.
"I don't think about the last match or the last result. I'm very happy about my team. I'm very happy about the performance; maybe more because it was against the best team until now. We are in the first spot and I'm happy."
At one stage in the ISL 2015, Atletico de Kolkata lost three matches on the trot. No one would have thought that the defending champions would bounce back in this grand fashion. They have come really close to securing a berth in the semifinals of ISL 2015.
"It's about good team work and good team spirit. And now we have the next game against Pune. We have two games more and we have to win. We just want to keep calm. I just want to focus on the next game against Pune and try to win," Habas added.
Sameehg Doutie once again turned out to be the star of the show as his brace and an assist helped his side to maintain their dominance over the visitiors. Borja Fernandez too scored a blinder in the 23rd minute of the game. Iain Hume scored his sxth goal of the season and is one of the contenders for the Golden Boot award.
