Kolkata taking on Delhi is always an important and exciting fixture in the Indian Super League. On Saturday, Atletico de Kolkata and Delhi Dynamos clash swords for the first time in ISL 2016 at the Rabindra Sarovar Stadium in the city of joy.
The inaugural champions of the Indian football tournament, ATK, are currently level on points with the Delhi side after the completion of four games, but Gianluca Zambrotta's remain a position above Jose Molina's team in the ISL 2016 points table, owing to a better goal difference.
The start has been slow for Atletico de Kolkata, and Molina, who was appointed as the coach of the side earlier this year, has rather asked his men to improve their performances. "I would like to win of course, I would prefer to win and I think we are playing good football and I think we can improve, and of course we want to improve," said the Spaniard.
"We want to play better and we are trying to do it and I think we deserved some more victories and points but we have only six so we keep working and there are still ten matches to go and many more points to win, and right now on our mind it's not the past or the future, it's the match against Delhi."
ATK marquee player Helder Postiga, meanwhile, is still unavailable owing to injury and his absence could make things more complicated for the home side.
Both sides are undefeated so far in the league but they have had a flurry of drawn games in ISL 2016. In the last four meetings between the sides over the past two years in the Indian Super League, Delhi Dynamos has bagged a win over Atletico de Kolkata once. The other three games have resulted in draws.
Schedule
Atletico de Kolkata vs Delhi Dynamos is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm IST (2.30 pm BST) on October 22.
