Udhampur, Sep 09 (ANI): At least 38 people are
feared dead after a landslide, triggered by heavy
rains, submerged an entire village in Udhampur
district of Kashmir, said a police officer. Nearly
22-23 houses were buried under the landslide. The
administration has recovered seven bodies while 31
people are still missing. Additional
Superintendent of police, Khalil Poswal said
rescue operation was underway to trace the bodies
or survivors from the debris. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi flew over the Kashmir valley on
Sunday to take stock of the situation and said
that the disaster is of the whole nation. Some
2,500 villages have been partially or completely
submerged across the area, while thousands of
people are stranded on rooftops waiting to be
rescued.
