Andhra Pradesh, June 27 (ANI): At least 12 people were killed and 18 others injured after an explosion at a gas pipeline at the site of the state-owned Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in Andhra Pradesh. The blast took place at 5:30 AM due to a gas leak in a pipeline near a refinery at Nagaram, around 560 km from Hyderabad. A massive fire broke out after the blast. Eight fire engines were rushed to the spot and the fire has been brought under control, officials said. The gas supply line has been cut off. Meanwhile, Prime Minister expressed condolences and tweeted, "My thoughts with the families of those who lost their lives in the GAIL Pipeline fire in AP. Prayers with the injured."
He also said, "I have spoken to the Petroleum Minister, Cabinet Secretary and GAIL Chairman and asked them to ensure immediate relief at the accident site."According to official sources, those who suffered burns are being shifted to Amalapuram and Kakinada hospitals. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered an inquiry.
