In what could be seen as a move to cash in on the popularity of its Zenfone 2 device, Asus is all set to release the Zenfone Selfie, a variant of the said device. The "selfie" oriented smartphone is expected to hit the stores soon.
The release date of Asus Zenfone Selfie is expected to fall sometime in June after unveiling it at the upcoming Computex 2015 which will be held between from 2-6 June 2 at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Exhibition Hall 1 & Hall 3, Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall (TWTC Nangang) & Taipei International Convention Center (TICC).
Asus released the Zenfone 2 in three models - ZE500ML, ZE550ML, and ZE551ML – a few months ago and it has been reportedly doing well in the market. Now, reports have it that another variant of the device based on selfie feature called Zenfone Selfie is all set for release.
According to a report by Sogi (via GSMInsider), the Asus Zenfone Selfie will be released before the much-delayed Zenfone Zoom which was unveiled earlier this year. It is expected to sport the same design of the Zenfone 2 and come with a 5.5-inch display but its front camera is said to be 13MP with auto focus and dual tone LED flash. The main camera is also expected to feature same mega-pixel.
Asus is tight-lipped on its upcoming device but it is expected come with features seen in the Zenfone 2, except the front camera. The Asus Zenfone 2, ZE551ML, sports a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density), powered by Intel Atom Z3580, and run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It comes packed with 16/32/64 GB internal memory and 4 GB RAM, houses a 13 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper, and a Li-Po 3000 mAh battery.
