Asus's ZenFone 4 which is currently running on last year's Android Nougat will be going to receive the Oreo update soon. An Asus forum moderator, Green1_ASUS, has essentially confirmed that the ZenFone 4, specifically the ZE554KL model, will be getting an update to latest Android version 8.0 Oreo by the end of this month.
In August, Asus had confirmed that both the ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 series will receive the Oreo update but didn't mention any specific rollout time-frame. It was only said that the update will hit eligible devices by the second half of 2018.
Asus has said that it is cutting back on bloatware, and the new version of ZenUI has pre-installed apps compared to the old version's 35.
After the rollout of Android Oreo update to the ZenFone 4, users can take advantage of features like picture-in-picture mode, notification channels, notification dots, smart text selection, and much more.
Last week, screenshots of Oreo running on the Asus ZenFone 3 was leaked on the internet, indicating that the older device may also get the update sometime soon.
The rollout date is yet to be revealed but it is better to know that the release is close. Oreo for Zenfone 3 should also arrive sooner than later, as multiple screenshots leaked recently, show the UI on an Oreo-powered Zenfone 3.
ZenFone 4 was launched in the US on October 31, but the rollout to major markets such as India is still awaited.
