Taiwanese consumer electronics major Asus launched the new 2016 Zenfone 3 series phones in at the company's 'Z3nvolution' event in New Delhi on Wednesday.
In India, Asus is releasing four Zenfone 3 series variants— the generic Zenfone 3 model, the top-end Deluxe variant, photography-centric Zenfone 3 Laser and the Ultra, a phablet.
The Zenfone 3 Deluxe sports a 5.7-inch full HD super AMOLED display with fingerprint sensor on the back.
Under-the-hood, it comes packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821/820 quad-core CPU, 6GB RAM, 128GB inbuilt memory, top-notch 23MP primary camera with Sony IMX318 sensor, laser autofocus (with proprietary TriTech system), PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) with 0.03 second focusing ability, f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilization, 3-axis electronic image stabilization for steady 4K UHD video recording. It also features quick charge 3.0 technology and Type C v3.0 USB port.

On the other hand, Zenfone 3 Ultra flaunts a mammoth 6.88-inch full HD screen and houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage and to power the massive display, the company has incorporated a high-capacity 4,600mAh battery. It also features same camera hardware as seen in the Deluxe model.
As far as generic Asus Zenfone 3 model is concerned, it is a feature-rich mid-range phone. It sports a 5.5-inch full HD super IPS LCD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass shield.
Inside, it houses 14nm FinFET process technology-based Snapdragon 625 SoC (System-on-Chip) backed by 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and a 3000 mAh battery.
Asus Zenfone 3 also boasts a fingerprint sensor and a 16MP camera with Sony IMX298 sensor, laser autofocus and LED flash on the back.
Photography-centric Zenfone 3 Laser houses feature-rich 13MP Sony camera with IMX214 sensor, 2nd generation laser autofocus with 0.03 sec speed, EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) blur-free video recording and colour correction sensor.
Asus Zenfone 3 series price and availability details:
ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenFone 3 Ultra, and ZenFone 3 Laser will be available in all major e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and leading retail stores across India in September.
The Zenfone 3 Deluxe will be available in two models—one having Snapdragon 820 CPU+6GB RAM+64GB storage and another with Snapdragon 821 processor+6GB RAM+ 256GB storage for Rs.49,999 and Rs. 62,999, respectively.
The phablet Zenfone 3 Ultra having 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage is said to cost Rs. 49,999.
The generic ZenFone 3 series will available starting Aug. 17 at all major e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and in chain store Samgeetha Mobiles. It will hit retail stores across India before the end of August. It will be made available in two models—a 5.5-inch model with 4GB RAM+32GB storage and, another with 5.2-inch screen having 3GB RAM+32GB memory for Rs. 27,999 and Rs. 21,999, respectively.
Whereas, the ZenFone 3 Laser with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage comes with a price tag of Rs. 18,999.
Besides the new Zenfone 3 series handsets, Asus also unveiled ZenBook 3 at Rs. 1,47,990, and Transformer 3 Pro at Rs. 1,44,990. They will be available at all major e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Asus exclusive stores and leading retail stores across India starting October.
