Asus is holding a launch event in India on Wednesday for its next-gen smartphone Zenfone 3 series. The event, titled "Z3nvolution", will begin at 4 p.m. and those who are not attending the event in New Delhi can watch it online through 360-degree live telecast. The new Zenfone series is not entirely a mystery as the Taiwanese tech giant had originally launched it in May at Computex in Taipei.
The biggest surprise about the Indian release of the Zenfone 3 series is the pricing. We could guess the price of the Zenfone 3 smartphones from their international price, but nothing was certain. However, online retail giant, Snapdeal, put up an offer page for the Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) model and revealed the price of the handset to be Rs. 21,999, Gadgets360 reported. Compared to the handset's $249 price tag internationally, it is costing quite a lot in India.
There is no mention of the other two Zenfone 3 models, namely Deluxe and Ultra, in the leaked offer page, but we'll know more at today's launch. For that price, the Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD Super IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass and a 14nm FinFET process technology-based Snapdragon 625 processor.
Snapdeal's offer page, which has since been pulled down, only listed the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model, whereas the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage was not mentioned. The Zenfone 3 will be available for buyers shortly after the event at 5 p.m. on Snapdeal.
Other specifications of the leaked model include a 16MP rear-camera, an 8MP front snapper, USB Type-C port, microSD card slot and a 3,000mAh battery. It remains unclear how many Zenfone 3 models are to be launched at today's Z3nvolution event.
