Taiwanese PC maker Asus officially launched their Fonepad 7 tablet PC in India today.

The new tablet made its global debut a month ago at the IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2013, Germany. It sports 7.0-inch IPS backlit HD WXGA screen with 1280x800p resolutions, having pixel density close to 216 ppi.
Under-the-hood, Asus Fonepad 7 houses a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB (with microSD card support) and a high-capacity 3950 mAh Li-Polymer battery, which can give up to 28 hours of talk time (3G) and when used in standby mode, the tablet can run up to 840 hours.
Other specifications include 5.0-megapixel camera with full HD (1920x1080p) video recording ability, 1.2-megapixel (it can take HD (720px1280p) video), Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n), Bluetooth v3.0 and it also boasts micro-SIM slot for 3G voice calling.
Apart from Fonepad 7, the company also launched a hybrid laptop Transformer Book T100 with detachable display. It sports 10.1 HD Glare touch panel with 1280x800p resolutions and runs on Windows 8.1 (32-bit) out-of-the-box.
The Asus hybrid device packs 1.33GHz Intel Bay-Trail T Z3740 quad-core processor, 2GB LPDDR3 RAM, Intel HD graphics, 32GB (expandable), 1.2-megapixel on the front side and Asus' exclusive SonicMaster stereo speakers.
The new Asus Fonepad 7 is priced ₹17,499, whereas the Transformer Book T100 costs ₹34,099. Both the devices expected to hit stores in early November.
In related news, Asus' flagship gadget Nexus 7 (2013 version) - co-developed with Google - is also slated to release next month in India. It flaunts 7.0-inch full HD IPS LCD screen with pixel density of 323 ppi and runs on the latest Android v4.3 Jelly Bean OS, powered by 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chipset with 2GB RAM and is said to come in two storage variants 16GB and 32GB.
