Taiwanese electronics major Asus launched the MeMO Pad tablet in India for ₹9,999.
The tablet sports a 7-inch, 1024x600 pixel resolution screen at 169 pixels per inch and is powered by a 1GHz VIA WM8950 CPU. The tablet marks Asus's entry into the budget tablet market. The tablet runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and packs 1GB RAM with internal memory of 512MB which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The device, measuring 96.2 x 119.2 x 11.2 mm in thickness and weighing 358g, sports a 1-megapixel front facing camera backed by a Li-polymer Battery.
"After offering various mid & high end products in the Indian market with innovative technologies, we believe it's time to bring the same grandeur to the low end market. We are pleased to announce the launch of the Asus MeMO Pad that gives you the mobility to stay connected in today's socially connected environment", said Peter Chang, Regional Head, South Asia & Country Manager, System Business Group, Asus India.
MeMO Pad will be available in the country from next week and will come in Sugar White, Titanium Grey and Cherry Pink models.
The Asus tablet is expected to be strong contender to the Acer Iconica B1-A71 tablet which was launched last month for ₹7,999. Iconia B1-A71 is one of the very few budget tablets that run on the latest Android v4.1 OS Jelly Bean. The tablet has a 7.0-inch diagonal WSVGA display and is powered by Mediatek dual-core 1.2GHz processor.
