Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says he is devastated by his sides 3-2 defeat to Leicester, chastising the errors they made that saw them throw away a 2-0 lead in the final 20 minutes of the match.
Goals from Jack Grealish and Carles Gil gave the Villains a 2-0 lead at the King Power Stadium and what appeared a first league win for the club since the opening day of the season. But Villa were left stunned by a remarkable late comeback from Leicester, with goals from Ritchie de Laet, Jamie Vardy and Nathan Dyer in the last 20 minutes seeing the Foxes prevail 3-2 at the final whistle.
When asked in the post-match press conference if he could believe the way the match had ended, Sherwood responded: No, Im devastated at the way its panned out today. At this level, when youre in total control of a football match for an hour and youre getting the reward for it with the two goals, to then throw it away... Im lost for words really.
You get what you deserve in this game and if you make silly errors and gift goals to the opposition then they get momentum and you get beat. And thats what we did.
When asked which goal was the worst to concede, Sherwood said: All of them, but the first one is a killer. Because that gives them the lift. The first one is always the most important. And it was calamity after that and the goals were shocking.
The result means Aston Villa are currently 15th in the table ahead of two more Midlands derbies, with West Brom in the Premier League and Birmingham City in the League Cup. Leicester have yet to lose this season and currently sit second in the table, four points behind leaders Manchester City.
