The much awaited game title, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be having a total of 3-4 hours of present day gameplay, according to Ubisoft. The gameplay includes finding certain collectibles, hacking computer systems, accessing rooms and other in-game material.
It has been understood that in the main story path, the task which the gamer is actually required to do in the present day is of about mere 20-25 minutes. Doing tasks in the present day world is noted to be vital for the overall game story.
"It's there to progress the story because there's this meta story that we're telling. Why are you researching Edward? Why him specifically? What did he do that's interesting? There is a story that connects everything together," states Ubisoft. "We pretty much tried to boil it down to its most core essence because we know there are people out there who really don't like the present day, and that's okay."
Present day tasks
The Ubisoft blog further states that the players would have to gain access to different computer systems in the present day world in order to access rooms and get through security. The contents found after accessing rooms would tell the player what happens to Desmond Miles after Assassin's Creed 3. "There's actually a lot of stuff linked to him that you find," said the blog.
New Character
Ubisoft has made it clear that the new character named Aveline is specifically made for Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It has also been said that her story is not connected to Edwards as she is not from the same time.
Ubisoft, however, dropped slight hints over the possible connections between the two by stating "There is a connection in the brand but I won't say what it is. You get to see it when you play as Aveline. Aside from Aveline... There are awesome cameos. Let's put it like that."
