It was dream come true for actress Shamna Kasim when she grooved along with Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai. Shamna, who is also a trained dancer, had her moment of glory in the Asia Vision Awards held in Sharjah where she performed a tribute dance to the diva and the graceful Aishwarya joined them for the performance.
"What I staged is a tribute, a fusion performance with all the hit songs of Aishwarya, who was the chief guest at the show. I was quite moved to see her enjoying our dance. And then she came up on the stage and danced with us! It was an incredible experience,' said a thrilled Shamna to The Times of India.
Shamna who was floored by Aishwarya's grace added that she was excited to see the Diva calling her by name.
"I was amazed to see that she was clearly calling me by my name!" She blessed me and said "What you have performed at a stretch is not something easy to put together and dance to, and I want to thank you for presenting this for me."
"Once I got back from the dais, my friends pulled me close saying they want to hold the hands the beautiful woman clasped. When I shared the stage with her I was trembling, but I could act cool," added the actress.
This year's Asiavision Award function, held at Sharjah International Stadium on 14 November, was a star- studded affair. Though the awards function was for honouring the best of Malayalam cinema through public voting, it also had Bollywood and Kollywood flavours with the presence of actors like Aishwarya Rai, Dhanush and Shruthi Haasan.
However, it was Aishwarya Rai who stole the show with the her grace, charm and beauty and the magnificent Sharjah stadium saw the actress being honoured with "Icon of India" award for her contribution to Indian cinema and for bring an ambassador of Indian cinema at various international avenues.
The actress thanked the audience for their love, support and encouragement for all her works and later joined Shamna Kasim and the team to dance to the tunes of the song "Khajra Re" from the film "Bunty Aur Babli".
