Asianet, the first satellite TV channel in Malayalam, has launched its high definition (HD) version Asianet HD on Thursday, 13 August.
The channel, flagged off by Malayalam actors Suresh Gopi and Mukesh along with the channel's Managing Director K Madhavan, was launched as Malayalam's first HD channel. Superstar Mohanlal also wished the Asianet family for acheiving the new milestone, through a phone call during the launch event.
Meanwhile, Mazhavil Manorama, another popular entertainment channel in Malayalam, has also been advertising, saying it will launch its HD version as the first Malayalam HD channel on Friday.
However, the popular Malayalam channels' war on being the first HD channel was a hot topic of discussion on social media on Thursday.
As per the troll messages doing the rounds on social media, it is understood that 22-year-old Asianet launched its HD version in a silent attack against five-year-old Mazhavil Manorama, which had been announcing about their plan to launch high quality version a few days before.
Interestingly, it has to be noted that the latest entertainment channel, Flowers TV, which was launched in April 2015, has telecast all its programmes in HD version.
So, which is the first Malayalam HD channel - Flowers TV, Asianet or Mazhavil Manorama? Anyhow, it is sure that the Kerala audience will be treated to a great visual experience from now on.
