The Asian Games 2018 has seen several Indian performers making a mark at the event which has led to a tally of 37 medals (7 Gold, 10 Silver and 20 Bronze) for the country till August 27.

While there have been quite a few names that have stood out this year at the Asian Games for India, here is a look at five of those who have really left a really strong impression with their outstanding performances.

Dutee Chand bags silver:

From being embroiled in the unfortunate gender dispute case for years that she eventually won, Dutee Chand came a long way towards setting her career right by winning the silver medal at the Asian Games women's 100m dash. Dutee was also the first Indian in 20 years to win a medal in this event. Given that this was the debut Asian Games appearance for the 22-year-old from Odisha, it was indeed a laudable achievement.

Quadruple sculls gold by Indian rowers:

The Indian rowing contingent had been disappointing initially at the Asian Games 2018. However, they managed to redeem themselves superbly as Sawarn Singh, Dattu Bhokanal, Om Prakash and Sukhmeet Singh went on to clinch a gold in the men's quadruple sculls category.

The Indian rowers clocked a time of 6 minutes and 17.13 seconds to finish in the first place. Incidentally, this was only the second gold for India in rowing ever since they joined the sport at the Asiad.

15-year-old Shardul Vihan wins silver:

In a remarkable performance by an Indian youngster, 15-year-old Shardul Vihan went on to win silver in the men's double trap shooting event this year at the Asian Games. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, the youngster shot 73 points to clinch his silver and was only one point behind Korea's 34-year-old Shin Hyunwoo who won gold with a 74.

Rahi Sarnobat creates history:

Rahi Sarnobat created history for India by becoming the first female shooter from the country to win gold at the Asian Games. The 27-year-old had a thrilling contest in the 25m air pistol finals with Thailand's Naphaswan Yangpaiboon.

At one point, both the women were tied at 34 points after 10 series of five shots each that eventually led to a shoot-off. Rahi held her nerve in the tense contest and ultimately won gold for India.

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat cinches historic gold for India:

Indian women wrestlers have been in incredible form for India over the past few years and continuing that terrific run, wrestler Vinesh Phogat won India an Asian gold this year.

The gold was a historic moment for Indian sports as Vinesh was the first Indian woman to win an Asiad gold in wrestling. The 23-year-old fiery wrestler from Haryana thumped her rivals aside with ease in the 50kg category throughout before overcoming Japan's Yuki Irie 6-2 in the final to win gold.
