India T20 cricket skipper MS Dhoni skipped practice Tuesday evening at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Dhaka, ahead of the Men in Blue's Asia Cup T20 2016 opener against Bangladesh Feb. 24 in Mirpur.
The 34-year-old Indian wicketkeeper-batsman had back spasms during his training in Dhaka Monday and his participation in India's opening match in the Asia Cup remains doubtful.
Parthiv Patel, roped in as a back-up for Dhoni, joined the team as he flew to Dhaka from Mumbai Tuesday afternoon, but he, too, didn't participate in the net sessions.
As reported by the Press Trust of India, Dhoni attended the training session with other members of the India cricket team but skipped practice altogether. He normally takes part in a light football game and brushes up his batting in the nets ahead of match days, but Tuesday saw none of these.
Dhoni decided to stand behind the goalpost at the pavilion end and watch his army go through the warm-up sessions. Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were present at the training session.
