England coach Trevor Bayliss has warned his side not to get carried away after going 1-0 up in this summers Ashes Series.
The Three Lions defeated Australia in just four days in Cardiff, claiming victory by an impressive margin of 169 runs. The win completes a remarkable turnaround for English cricket just two months after coach Peter Moores was sacked.
However, despite going 1-0 up in the Ashes, Bayliss has warned his squad to expect a backlash from the Australians at Lords.
Certainly it is a lot better to be one nil up than one nil down, said Bayliss.
But the boys are very much aware that when you beat Australia the next match is going to be even tougher.
They will come back hard, we know that. There is still a long way to go in this series and to win it we will have to play some very good cricket between now and the end.
Englands win comes off the back of a one-day series victory over World Cup finalist New Zealand. Prior to that Englands fielding had come under fire, with catches being dropped and run-out opportunities missed.
However, during their pre-tour trip to Spain, the Three Lions worked on their fielding and Bayliss admits he was impressed by his sides performance.
I think we only put one catch down. Any coach is always looking for perfection so well continue to look for that, Bayliss added.
I thought our ground fielding was outstanding as well. Our energy in the field, I thought, helped the bowlers put pressure on the batters.
From a batting point of view we would have liked a few more of the players that got starts to go on and make bigger scores.
It was one of those wickets that didnt matter how long you bat for, the batters never seemed like they were fully in.
But, I thought the innings of Joe Root was fantastic.
