West Indies great Sir Viv Richards hopes Edgbaston will deliver a faster pitch to give more help to Englands fast bowling attack.
Richards was speaking at Sir Ian Bothams Beefys 60th Birthday Bash charity fundraiser at the Wormsley Estate.
Pace bowling quartet James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood and Ben Stokes all struggled at Lords in unfriendly flat wicket conditions as Australia levelled the series at 1-1.
And cricket legend Richards, who scored more than 8,500 Test runs and made 24 centuries, believes England should make the most of home advantage.
He said: Ones got to be quite open minded that if you need to beat Australia, youve got to give your bowlers an opportunity as well to have a go at the Australia batsmen [on quicker pitches].
