Two teenagers from Malappuram, Kerala, were arrested on Thursday, 20 August, for uploading a fake video of Malayalam actress Asha Sarath on social media.
The actress had filed a petition with the City Police Commissioner of Kochi in July. During interrogation, the duo reportedly admitted to committing the cyber crime. The teenagers are believed to have uploaded similar fake videos of other actresses as well.
The video, featuring the "Drishyam" actress' look-alike, was widely shared on mobile messaging app Whatsapp and social networking site Facebook.
The actress responded to the matter through her official Facebook handle and thanked everyone for supporting her in her time of crisis.

Asha became a familiar face in the Malayalam Television industry with her character Jayanthi in popular serial "Kumkumapoovu". She later became part of many big budget films in Malayalam and Tamil film industry, by acting with biggies of the industry like Mohanlal, Mammootty and Kamal Haasan.
The actress delivered one of her best performances in Jeethu Joseph directorial "Drishyam" as IG Geetha Prabhakar, following which she bagged the same role in its Tamil remake "Papanasam", which had Kamal Haasan in the lead role.
Her performance opposite Mammootty in the 2014 film, "Varsham", also bagged her many Best Actress awards in 2014.
