Hemant Bhosle, son of Bollywood playback singer Asha Bhosle, passed away on Monday after a long battle with cancer. He was 66.
Hemant is the eldest son of Asha Bhosle and had been living in Scotland.
Asha Bhosle was in Singapore for an event when she received the tragic news. She was preparing to leave for Mumbai to attend the birthday celebration party of her sister and the playback singer Lata Mangeshkar.
On Monday, there were plans of celebrating singer Lata Mangeshkar's birthday in Mumbai, but the party was cancelled when the sad news broke out. The Bhosle and Mangeshkar family chose not to comment.
However, a family friend told DNA, "Both Lata didi and Asha tai met quietly, held hands, consoling each other".
This is the second tragedy that has struck Bhosle family. In 2012, Asha Bhosle's 56-year-old daughter and journalist Varsha committed suicide by shooting herself. Varsha reportedly used her mother's misplaced gun to kill herself at her Peddar Road residence.
Meanwhile, Asha Bhosle's son Hemant was also a music composer. He has composed music for several Hindi and Marathi films.
