Renowned Indian singer Asha Bhosle was born on 8 September 1933. Asha Mangeshkar, as she called, was born in Sangli, Maharashtra.
Asha Bhosle is the younger sister of the legendary Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. She followed the footsteps of Lata Mangeshkar by singing Marathi and Bollywood songs and for other Indian languages as well.
On the occasion of Asha Bhosle's 85th birthday, veteran Lata Mangeshkar shared a special message in Hindi on her Twitter account, "Namaskar. Aaj meri choti behen Asha Bhosle ka janam din hai. Main usko aashirwad deti hun, wo hamesha khush rahe aur gaati rahe ye meri ishwar se prarthana." (Greetings. Today is the birthday of my younger sister Asha Bhosle. My blessings are with her; may she always be happy and be singing, this is what I pray for.)
Lata Mangeshkar also shared a video of Asha Bhosle's song, titled Nigahein Milane Ko Jee Chahta Hai from the movie Dil Hi To Hai starring Raj Kapoor and Nutan. Take a look.

Lata Mangeshkar had also shared a message for sibling Meena Khadikar, with a video where she is singing with Meena and Usha Mangeshkar.

The other singer and music composer siblings of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Meena Khadikar are Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Asha Bhosle was married to Ganpatrao Bhosle from 1949–1960, and then to legendary singer-composer RD Burman 1980 until his death.
