Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Specifications Leak; Tipped to Debut in June

With Samsung Galaxy S5 already slated to hit global markets next week (11 April 2014), key features of the rumored Galaxy S5 Mini, compact variant of the flagship phone have surfaced online.

Samsung community website, SamMobile in contacts with company insider has reportedly got hold of the key specification list of the Galaxy S5 Mini codenamed SM-G800.

Unlike its predecessor, S5 Mini is said to boast of standard mid-range features with little bigger and more refined 4.5-inch super AMOLED HD display and run on the latest Android v4.4 KitKat powered by a Qualcomm chipset, probably a Snapdragon 400 series CPU, an appreciative enhancement compared to 2013 model Galaxy S4 Mini which featured a sub-par 4.3-inch qHD (540x960p) screen with dual-core processor inside.

The upcoming Samsung phone is said to come equipped with 1.5GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage, 8.0-megapixel main camera, 2.0-megapixel snapper on the front, IR blaster (smart TV remote control feature) and 2,100 mAh battery, however there is no word whether the new phone would boast water-and-dust resistant IP67 certifications like its elder sibling Galaxy S5.

If sources of SamMobile are to be believed, the rumored Galaxy S5 Mini is expected to make its debut in June. Even Galaxy S4 Mini got launched around same time last year.

Besides Galaxy S5 compact variant, Samsung is also slated to launch a camera-centric variant dubbed as Galaxy S5 Zoom next month. It is said to have 4.8-inch HD (720p) display, run on the latest android v4.4 KitKat, 1.6GHz quad-core processor/ Hexa-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 20.0-megapixel camera with 10 X zoom. It also said that the new phone will be compact and slimmer than the bulky predecessor, Galaxy S4 Zoom, which had protractible lens forming an awkward bump on the rear-side.
