"Currently, he is planning to convert to Islam and is also thinking of going for a change of name. But, he is yet to decide on these. Since it is his personal decision, his family members respect it," a source close to the music director told The Times of India.
Three days ago, Yuvan clarified about the rumours of his third marriage on his Twitter handle. While he dismissed the wedding rumours, he also revealed that he follows Islam. "I'm not married for the third time. That news is fake and yes I follow Islam and I'm proud about it. Alhamdhulillah," Yuvan tweeted.
On his family's reaction to his decision, Yuvan stated, "My family supports my decision and there is no misunderstanding between me and my dad."
Yuvan has reportedly been practicing Islam for almost a year. "He has been doing namaz five times a day all these months. He is not missing his prayers even when he is at work and ensures that he allots time for it at his studio as well," the source added.
The reason behind his conversion is not known, but rumour has it that the music composer decided to follow the religion after meeting a spiritual guru. It has also been said that director Ameer was responsible for Yuvan's decision, but the singer-songwriter has rubbished it.
Yuvan, who began his musical career more than a decade ago, rose to fame with several hit albums to his credit. The composer is currently busy with his upcoming projects including Suriya's "Anjaan", Simbu's "Vettai Mannan", Gautham Karthik's "Vai Raja Vai" and director Ram's "Taramani" among others.
