The South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2013, a two-day event, ended on a grand note at Expo Centre Sharjah, UAE. (Check out complete list winners at SIIMA)
Celebrities from all four south Indian film industries attended the gala event. Shahid Kapur, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Dhanush, Praneetha, Allu Sirish, Amala Paul, Hansika Motwani, Rima Kallingal, Shruti Haasan, Priya Mani, Madhavan, Amy Jackson, Asin, Parul Yadav, Lakshmi Manchu, Vidyut Jawal, Vikram Prabhu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Harris Jeyaraj, Anirudh, Lakshmi Menon, Shreya, Arya, Reema Sen, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Usha Uthup, Kajal Aggarwal, Nidhi Subbaiah, Nivin Pauly, Vijay Yesudas, Navdeep, Kannada superstar Shivraj Kumar, Nithya Menon, Lissy Priyadarshan, Trisha Krishnan, Charmee, Diganath and Rana are among the stars who attended the event.
On the first of the SIIMA event, generation next awards were bestowed on talented individuals from all four south industries. The nominees were chosen by a team of experts under various categories in all four south Indian film industries and the winners were selected based on public voting.
Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly of "Neram" fame won the rising star of south Indian cinema (Male) award, while Nithya Menon won the same award in the female category. Actress Asin, who is well known in both south Indian cinema and Bollywood, has received the pride of south Indian cinema award.

Besides gen next awards, technical and music awards were also given on the first day event. In Tamil category, Dhanush won the best play back singer (male) award for "Why This Kolaveri Di" song. Composer Harrish bagged the best music director award for Vijay's "Thuppakki."
