If latest reports are to be believed then Bollywood's king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan, will play the role of a psychotic lover in Farah Khan's next venture titled "Happy New Year".
Shah Rukh had played a psycho in 1993 psychological thriller "Darr: A Violent Love Story" directed by Yash Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner. His role in the film was widely appreciated and he was also nominated for Best Villian at the Filmfare Awards.
Rumours of Shah Rukh's role in the film have been doing rounds for quite sometime, but the makers are yet to decide on who will play his on-screen ladylove.
Earlier, it was reported that filmmaker Farah has approached Bollywood diva and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the female lead in the film. But, it was later said that Ash rejected the offer for not being cast opposite hubby Abhishek Bachchan, who has also been signed on board the project.
Apart from Abhishek, Boman Irani has also been roped in for "Happy New Year". Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran is likely to share screen with the actors in the fim.
The shooting of "Happy New Year" was supposed to go on floors in June but it was postponed due to the Shah Rukh's health. The actor, who had recently wrapped up the shooting of "Chennai Express", had to undergo a much-needed shoulder surgery following which he was advised to take rest for six weeks, forcing the team of "Happy New Year" to push back the shooting to September.
As per recent reports, the crew of "Happy New Year" will fly down to Dubai next week to zero in on one of the lavish resorts of the city for shooting.
