New Arsenal signing Mesut Ozil considers Arsenal to be one of the best teams in European football. The German international believes the talent present at the club can propel it towards winning the Premier League this season.
"Of course we can challenge for the Premier League," the former Real Madrid player said in a press conference on Thursday.
"I know the team, I know the talent we have here," he continued. "Everyone wants to be successful and Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We want to achieve things with this team. If course it will be difficult because the league is very balanced, but we work hard to a achieve this."
The player, who completed his £42.5 million transfer from Spain on deadline day, is also encouraged by Arsenal's style of play.
"We want to play offensive and good football and to keep clean sheets," he said. "We want to play attractive football. I can't promise to win trophies, but I promise as a team we will give all to win trophies."
"I feel very good here," he explained. "It's great to be part of this team. You can see how familiar this club is, when I arrived here everything is great. I feel very well here. The boss is great, I'm sure he will improve me, that is why I decided to come here."
Ozil joined fellow German internationals Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker at the Emirates Stadium. As of now the former Real Madrid player feels he made the right decision in choosing Arsenal.
"It is a very respectful treatment at Arsenal," he said. "This is important for me, to feel good here. This is where I will work every day. I spoke to Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski said this and they were right."
The player is also not daunted by the exorbitant fee paid by his new club.
"I would have come here without a fee, that wouldn't be a problem," he said. "Of course I am proud of this (price tag), but the most important thing is the manager trusts me. He trusts me."
