The Sami Khedira to Arsenal transfer has died down a little bit of late, with neither side reportedly quite reaching an agreement and wages apparently still being a problem.
However, despite all the troubles that this transfer seemed to have endured over the past couple of weeks, there remains a good chance that Arsenal could still get their man.
Khedira, after all, has still to sign a new contract with Real Madrid, and if the Spanish giants are convinced that the Germany international will not sign a new deal, then they will want to sell the player before the summer transfer window shuts.
Otherwise, Khedira could walk to another club for free next summer after coming to an agreement in the January.
Bayern Munich are apparently hoping for that exact scenario, with the German giants looking at the option of signing the 27-year-old on a free transfer next summer, much like they did with Robert Lewandowski, who left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season for the Allianz Arena.
Chelsea also remain in the hunt for Khedira, with Jose Mourinho an admirer of the midfielder's qualities.
But Arsenal reportedly remain in the driver's seat, with Arsene Wenger keen to bring the box-to-box midfielder in to the Emirates and add to the bulging German contingent, which already includes Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry.
Arsenal fans still hoping for a deal to be done to bring in Khedira, who is expected to cost the North London side a transfer fee of around £20 million, while wages will have to be up amongst the ones that Ozil and Alexis Sanchez earn.
Talksport presenter Stan Collymore, a former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker, revealed that the Khedira to Arsenal summer transfer is still very much on on Twitter, after initially breaking the news about Wenger's interest in the former Stuttgart man.
Gooners, haven't forgotten you. Khedira still 100% on, whatever anyone else tells you. @talkSPORT @SportsYapper

If Khedira joins Arsenal, then it will be the icing on what has been an absolutely wonderful cake in terms of transfer business this summer.
