Arsenal have received a major boost in their pursuit of German playmaker Julian Draxler who will be allowed to leave Wolfsburg in January for £30 million. The former Schalke man was linked with the Gunners back in 2015 before he opted to move to Wolfsburg. Julian Draxler expressed his intentions to leave Wolfsburg and play for a top European team at the start of this season but was forced to stay. This frustrated Draxler a lot and ever since then he has gone public about his desire to leave the German club.
Because of this, Wolfsburg manager Valerien Ismael omitted him from their match day squad against Bayern Munich yesterday. According to reports, Julian Draxler has also been told that he will never play for the club again. Wolfsburg director Klaus Allofs admitted that keeping him at the club was a big mistake.
"All that has changed is our basic stance compared to the summer when we said that we did not want to sell him, which has proven not to have been a good decision; you've got to accept that now. If we are to receive an offer then we will consider it and see whether we react to it. We are not putting him up for sale or sticking a price tag on him, though, just to make that very clear," ESPN quoted the Wolfsburg director as saying.
After a horrible start to the season, which saw Draxler score just one goal and assist one, it is likely that he will leave Wolfsburg sooner rather than later. Julian Draxler is currently one of Germany's hottest prospects and if Arsenal are really interested in signing him, they need to make a move now or regret losing him to one of their rivals.
Arsenal's interest in Jesse Lingard is solely down to the fact that Manchester United have shown an interest in signing Mesut Ozil. Jesse Lingard who like Ozil has 18 months left on his contract is yet to receive a new deal from Manchester United. Arsenal are rumoured to have offered Lingard a double your money offer which will see the England International get £120,000 per week.
Jesse Lingard has had a bright start under Jose Mourinho scoring three goals in 13 appearances and Mourinho will not want to lose one of his best youth prospects especially to Arsenal. However, if Manchester United and Lingard cannot agree on a new contract he might just make a move Arsenal.
