John Barrowman, who portrays the character of Malcolm Merlyn in The CW supernatural series "Arrow", turns 48 on Wednesday, 11 March. The Scottish-American actor was born in 1967 as the youngest child of his family and his full name is John Scot Barrowman.
While at high school, the celeb began his journey in the world of entertainment through various musical productions, including "Camelot", "Oliver!", "Hello, Dolly!", "Anything Goes" and "Li'l Abner". But during his final years of secondary school, he worked as a manual labour at a power company in Illinois, US.
He became part of television in 1995 as Peter Fairchild in CBS drama "Central Park West". Before joining team "Arrow", Barrowman was part of several popular television series, such as "Desperate Housewives", "Doctor Who" and its spin-off series "Torchwood".
The 48-year-old was also part of several big screen projects, including low budget movie "Shark Attack 3: Megalodon" (2002), Cole Porter's biopic "De-Lovely" (2004) and Susan Stroman's musical comedy "The Producers" (2005).
Barrowman met his partner Scott Gill during the production of British play "Rope" in 1993. They officially exchanged wedding vows on 27 December 2006 and legally married in California on 2 October 2013.
