Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan's wedding was one of the biggest celebrations in Bollywood this year and was attended by several A-listed celebrities from politics, business and cinema.
Arpita and Aayush Sharma married on 18 November at Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, followed by a reception in Mumbai on 21 November.
Both the grand functions were attended by popular celebrities close to Salman and his family. Even Salman's foe-turned-friend Shah Rukh Khan showed up at Arpita's sangeet ceremony and the reception to bless the newlyweds.
However, there were some who gave the grand wedding a miss. Not only did they skip the lavish wedding in Hyderabad, but also the reception in Mumbai.
Ranbir Kapoor:
Ranbir Kapoor's alleged relationship with his ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif, could possibly be the reason of the "Barfi" star not being invited for the celebrations.
Interestingly, Ranbir's cousins Karishma, father Randhir and aunt Rima Jain made it to the wedding. While Kareena, Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir's elder sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, couldn't join the family due to other commitments.
Katrina Kaif: The actress, who is close to the bride attended the function in Hyderabad, but did not attend the Mumbai reception as she was out of town for a shoot.
However, a report in Deccan Chronicle suggested that Kaif was apparently disappointed with Salman who during the Hyderbad function embarrassed her in front of the guests by calling her "Katrina Kapoor."
Deepika Padukone: Deepika Padukone has surprisingly given the wedding a miss. While some wonder whether it was Kaif's presence that made her skip the function, others believe that the actress was busy shooting for "Piku" in Kolkata.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali:
Both Salman and Bhansali have worked in many films together including the superhit, "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", however, the producer-director was not invited for the wedding.
Reportedly, Salman is miffed with Bhansali's loud temperament on the sets. During the celebrations of two decades of Sooraj Barjatya's family drama, "Hum Aapke Hain Koun", Salman had also hinted his dislike for Bhansali.
"One day, I saw Sanjay Leela Bhansali yelling, apparently he does that quite a lot. I had to tell him and I did - 'Sanjay, you must hang around with Sooraj Barjatya. And just see how he directs'," The Times of India quoted Salman as saying.
Arjun Kapoor: Before entering the film industry, Arjun was romantically involved with Arpita and hence was not invited for the wedding. The couple dated for two years before the latter decided to part ways. On the other hand, Arjun's father Boney Kapoor attended the wedding to bless the newlyweds.
Rani Mukerji: Although Rani Mukerji has been good friends with Salman for many years, Mukerji and husband Aditya Chopra gave it a miss as they were holidaying abroad.
Bachchan Family: Salman reportedly didn't extend an invitation to the Bachchan family with whom he once shared a good bond. Abhishek Bachchan who got married to his ex-flame Aishwarya Rai is said to be the reason for the broken relationship between the family and Salman.
