Police have released a video showing the moment two armed robbers stole more than £2,000 from a Greggs bakery, then apologised afterwards.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for the publics help by releasing the CCTV footage, which shows two men in hooded jackets storm a Greggs bakery in Newton Heath, Manchester and make off with over £2,000.
Hopping over the counter, the robbers forced two members of staff to show them the location of the safe after threatening them with a knife. They then grabbed around £2,000 in cash and fled the scene, but not before apologising to the two terrified employees.
Detective Constable Martin Riley said, This robbery has left the staff members shaken from their ordeal, though the robbers were at least polite enough to apologise to them before they ran off. They thankfully did not act on their threats of violence, but that takes nothing away from the severity of this crime.
We would like any member of the public who may have seen these men running from the scene, or who believe they have any information that would assist our enquiry, to contact police, he added.
Police have asked anyone with information to call police on 0161 856 3521 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
