Bollywood's young gun Arjun Kapoor, who is presently shooting for "2 States" in Chennai, has recently opened up about his equation with stepmother Sridevi.
The actor's family history is well known; father Boney Kapoor had tied the knot with Sridevi when he was already married to Arjun's mother Mona Kapoor.
The equation of the Sridevi-Arjun relationship has been under scanner ever since the actor's debut in the industry. Recently, Arjun's absence in Sridevi's high-end birthday bash was starkly pointed out, fuelling speculations of their uneasy equation.
The usually soft-spoken Arjun in a recent interview to Deccan Chronicle mentioned his respect for the veteran actress referring to her as his father's wife.
"She is a fantastic actor and I immensely respect her body of work. The less I say, the better it is. At the end of the day, she is my father's wife. She is a very talented actress and Chennai is her home...It would be very unfair of me to let my personal baggage fall on her body of work, especially in a place like Chennai, where she is loved and respected."
The 28-year-old may have have played safe with respect to the "Challbaaz" actress, but when asked of father Boney, Arjun said, "My father, Boney Kapoor, has been through so many ups and downs and gathered so much love and adulation that I feel very proud to be known as his son and that I am given that darjah (respect) that he has gathered...He is a giving person at every level...he's been such a good father to us, my sister and myself."
The "Ishaaqzaade" actor, who is busy shooting with co-star Alia Bhatt for the inter-caste religious love story "2 States", also had words of praise for the newbie.
"It was great fun working with Alia. She's a beautiful, great person to work with. She continues to surprise me."
"We are constantly learning. It is a pleasure to share that kind of rapport with somebody," said Arjun, stoking speculation of him dating Alia.
