Dulquer Salmaan's latest Malayalam movie "Kammatipaadam," released on May 20, has been garnering mixed response from the audience. While many are calling it a classic thriller, some are of the opinion that the film is too lengthy. However, joining the league of many Mollywood projects, the Rajeev Ravi-directed film will soon be remade in Hindi and Telugu.

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and Tollywood actor Akhil Akkineni are being considered as the leads for the remakes of the Dulquer-starrer. "['Kammatipaadam'] having been received very well by critics and audiences alike, there are now plans to remake the film in Telugu and Hindi. Akhil and Arjun are the top contenders for the lead role," a source from the film's unit told IANS.

Although Arjun and Akhil haven't confirmed the news, the remake versions are expected to be finalised in a couple of months. "The film hasn't been shown to them yet. However, they're being considered as the story suits their image more convincingly. It might take a couple of months before things get firmed up," the source added.

It has to be noted that chances are high for the movie to go on floors in Hindi soon, as Rajeev is a popular cinematographer in Bollywood, having worked on movies like "Bombay Velvet," "Dev.D" and upcoming Alia Bhatt-starrer "Udta Punjab."

"Kammatipaadam," set against the backdrop of a place in Kochi, narrates the story about how the area paved the way for the development of the city. The movie, which also has Vinayakan, Manikandan, Shaun Romy, Amalda Liz, Soubin Shahir, Alencier Ley, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjarumoodu, Vinay Forrt, Anjali Aneesh and P Balachandran in significant roles, has been produced under the banner of Global United Media by Prem Menon.
