Theron and Penn were clicked together vacationing in a Hawaiian beach on 30 December. The South African beauty reportedly flaunted her slender figure in a bikini and was relaxing with Penn and a male friend. She stayed at Penn's beachfront home in Oahu.
After ringing in the New Year together, the celebrities were spotted again at the airport, taking the same flight to Los Angeles.
Back in California, the 53-year-old actor was snapped again, emerging from the actress' Hollywood Hills home, on 2 January, reported E Online.
The actors have been good friends for a long time and were rumoured to be dating back in 2010, when Theron separated from beau Stuart Townsend, according to People.
But it now seems the duo is more than 'good friends'. On Saturday, the couple was spotted together again; this time enjoying a Starbucks coffee.
The blonde actress was seen keeping it casual, as she picked up the beverages from the joint and went back to Penn, who was driving a black Lexus. Neither Theron's son Jackson nor Penn's children were present, reported the Daily Mail.
Repeated sightings of the two are enough to set assumptions that they might be the next 'hot couple' on the block.
Meanwhile, Theron, who is active in humanitarian works in South Africa, is on the verge of adopting a second child. The 38-year-old already has a two-year old boy - Jackson - and is now planning to adopt another child, to give him a sibling.
