Sundar C's "Aranmanai 2" and "Irudhi Suttru", which were released last weekend, have been grandly welcomed by the audience. As a result, both the films have done good collections at the box office in its first weekend.
Leading trade tracker Taran Adarsh has tweeted that "Irudhi Suttru" has minted Rs 4.14 crore in the opening weekend in India. He explains, "#SaalaKhadoos [Tamil] Fri 91 lacs, Sat 1.45 cr, Sun 1.78 cr. Total: ₹ 4.14 cr... Hindi ₹ 5.79 cr + Tamil ₹ 4.14 cr total: ₹ 9.93 cr."
On the other end, "Aranmanai 2" has done an earth-shattering business in Tamil Nadu. Trade tracker Kaushik LM tweeted, "#SundarC's #Aranmanai2 grosses a massive 16 crores+ after its first 3 days in Tamil Nadu. @Actor_Siddharth @ihansika @trishtrashers."
However, "Aranmanai 2" has failed to beat the first weekend record of "Rajini Murugan", which had raked in above Rs 18.5 crore in the first weekend. It has to be noted that the Sivakarthikeyan's flick was released for four-day Pongal weekend whereas the Siddharth's film had normal three-day weekend.
"Aranmanai 2" has ruled the Chennai box office too by collecting Rs 1.12 crore from 225 shows, whereas "irudhi Suttru" raked in Rs 67.19 lakh in the first weekend.
The new releases were promoted well and had generated good pre-talk. Hence, the movies were warmly received by the audience in the first weekend. As both the flicks are riding on good word-of-mouth, they are expected to do well in the coming days that would be crucial for their box office success.
